Wrexham: Rob and Ryan's first game, five years on

The owners marked five years since their first live Wrexham match, a 3-2 defeat at Maidenhead in 2021, with a video of them taking their seats.

The short version

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds first watched Wrexham live on 26 October 2021, at an away National League game at Maidenhead United that Wrexham lost 3-2. A video of the pair taking their seats was published today. Wrexham are now 17th of 24 in the EFL Championship.

Five years ago today, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds took their seats for their first live Wrexham game, and a video of the moment has been published to mark the anniversary.

The match was an away trip to Maidenhead United at York Road in the National League on Tuesday 26 October 2021. The pandemic had kept the pair from visiting Wrexham or attending a game after their takeover was completed in February 2021, so that midweek trip was their first chance to watch the team in person. Things did not go to plan on the pitch, with Wrexham losing 3-2.

It is a reminder of how far the owners' involvement has come since a midweek trip to York Road. The club are now in the EFL Championship, where Phil Parkinson's side sit 17th of 24 with 14 points from 12 games, after a 4-1 win over Preston North End on 17 October.

The next match is at Sheffield United on Friday 30 October, with kick-off at 20:00 UK at Bramall Lane.
